Luohu to enhance public cultural services
The Luohu District Committee of the Communist Party of China and the district government held a conference on publicity and cultural work on March 4 to outline the gist of a conference on the same topic held by the central authority.
The district committee reviewed Luohu’s cultural and publicity work last year and unveiled a list of “things to do” for this year.
Lv Manni, director of the CPC Luohu District Committee’s publicity department, urged all officials to stay true to their mission and always bear in mind the bigger picture while pursuing innovation.
In 2018, Luohu was praised by higher authority for its progress in providing public cultural services, efficient release of news and timely responding to public opinion.
Luohu has organized citizen classes and lectures, and used a new media platform, for which 15,000 local Party members have registered, to keep not only Party members and civil servants, but also common citizens informed with key elements of the work by the 19thCPC National Congress.
The district committee and the district government pay special attention to enhancing public understanding of Luohu’s development strategy —“one river, six circles and three belts”. Meanwhile, the number reports on Luohu published by national media outlets reached a historical high last year.
Luohu continues to enhance the supply of public cultural services. Last year saw the opening of five new sub-district sports and cultural centers, two sub-district libraries and 10 community libraries. The district hosted more than 3,000 public cultural activities and 65 sports events, which attracted participation of about 1.68 million person-times.
The district will continue to improve its public cultural services, and organize a series of activities to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone.
Under its annual plan it will expedite the planning and construction of its “two institutes and one center” projects, and build four community libraries and five reading corners. It plans to upgrade the Shenzhen Cantonese Opera Week to a Cantonese Opera Festival of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area this year.
Other projects include eight more city-level characteristic sports schools, at least two football schools and one soccer training base for young talents. Luohu will host one national school football match in 2019.
